It’s only about 15ft off the ground, it’s the perspective.

This is the best chairlift and they are taking it down and putting a gondola up instead, I’m quite sad about it. They do have the classic alpine slide and now the cowboy coaster-highly recommend. I will miss that chairlift though (it does have a bar over the lap now).

We went to Loveland awhile back, they still have chairlifts with no bars. They even look like they have mounts for bars but they were removed. The side bolsters of the seat were very low as well which didn’t add any security. Some of these lifts are over 50 ft off the ground, I was freaking out as a grown man, I don’t understand it lol. It gets windy up there.

Standard old school two person lift, nothing to worry about.

Plus, is this the 80th or 81st time I’ve seen this photo?

Every time this is posted, we get to see how few people have even seen a chairlift.

    1)perspective is a hell of a drug

2)they are not hundreds/thousands of feet in the air

3)they are only about 20-25 feet off the ground. Still not great for a fall, but there are a *lot* of modern ski lifts higher or “riskier”

4)lap bars becoming a thing doesn’t make things “better back then”.

I have to say the latter because everytime this is posted somebody wants to remind us how **hardcore** the 50s/60s/70s was compared to today in the same way people hype up old box steel frame cars as being more “durable” than today’s “plastic crunch” cars.
