You can see Bee Arthur’s necklace of human ears in the museum of television and broadcasting.

Director John Ford mocked and made fun of Wayne on the set of The Man who Shot Liberty Valance for his lack of WWII service. Fellow actors in the film, Jimmy Stewart and Lee Marvin fought in the war with Marvin having been shot by a sniper. Wayne, apparently, felt bad about this and Ford, who could be a massive dick at times, used it to taunt Wayne.

Bea was notoriously rude to Betty White while filming The Golden Girls.

I met Bea Arthur in person a couple of times. She was a rude asshole.

She was a typewriter and truck driver in the US. Title makes it sound like she stormed Mt Suribachi

I’m not sure why the insult towards John Wayne was necessary. You could’ve just said Bea Arthur served in WWII or not mention it at all.

Interestingly, Arthur was not proud of being in the Marines, and actually denied that she ever served in an interview (I would link it but this sub doesn’t allow links).
